Our Story
Rajasthan is not merely a state — it is the soul of India's marble trade. In 1990, VMKK was founded here by master craftsmen who believed that the art of sacred marble sculpture should never be industrialised or diluted. From our atelier in Jaipur, we continue that mission today.
Our artisans work with Makrana white marble — the same stone quarried from the Aravalli hills that the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan chose for the Taj Mahal in 1632. This is not coincidence. Makrana marble's extraordinary crystalline purity, its capacity to hold fine detail, and its centuries-long resistance to weathering make it the only stone worthy of the divine subjects we depict.
From a modest workshop with six artisans, VMKK Marble Artistry has grown to a team of 50+ master craftsmen and craftswomen — each a specialist in one or more sculptural traditions. Yet our founding mission has never changed: every piece we create must carry the breath of human hands, the weight of centuries, and the intention of sacred purpose.

The VMKK Way
Every VMKK sculpture passes through four uncompromising stages — each as important as the last — ensuring the finished piece is worthy of wherever it will rest.
Step 01
Every journey begins at the source. Our procurement team visits certified Makrana quarries in Rajasthan to hand-select stone blocks of the highest purity — the same milky-white marble that built the Taj Mahal. We reject anything less than flawless.
Step 02
Each sculpture is assigned to a senior artisan who has dedicated 20–40 years to the craft. Using traditional chisels and mallets — never machines — our masters coax form from stone with infinite patience, guided by sacred iconographic canons passed down through generations.
Step 03
Once carved, each piece undergoes up to eight stages of hand-polishing — from coarse grit to ultra-fine buffing — to reveal the natural luminosity of Makrana marble. Our quality assurance team inspects every surface under multiple light conditions before approval.
Step 04
Art of this magnitude demands extraordinary care in transit. Each sculpture is individually foam-padded, wooden-crated, and documented with handling instructions and a certificate of authenticity. We partner with specialist art logistics firms to ensure safe arrival in any corner of the world.
The Hands Behind the Art
At VMKK Marble Artistry, our 50+ artisans are not employees — they are custodians of a living artistic heritage. Each master artisan brings between 20 and 40 years of focused practice, specialising in specific sculptural traditions: temple architecture, deity iconography, human portraiture, or animal forms.
This knowledge was not acquired in classrooms. It was passed directly — chisel to hand, breath to breath — from guru to shishya across generations. Many of our senior artisans were apprenticed to their own fathers or grandfathers, who themselves worked in Rajasthan's marble ateliers for decades before them. The lineage is unbroken.

Absolutely. All our sculptures are customizable — from the deity or subject depicted to size, finish, and level of ornamentation. Our design team will consult with you to understand your vision, produce detailed drawings for approval, and match any reference photographs or iconographic specifications you provide. We accept wire transfer (SWIFT/IBAN), PayPal for international clients, and domestic UPI/NEFT payments for India-based orders. For custom commissions, we follow a 50% advance upon order confirmation and 50% prior to shipment. All transactions are secured and fully documented with professional invoices.
Yes, every piece comes with a certificate of authenticity that specifies the marble origin (Makrana, Rajasthan), the quarry batch reference, the artisan who created it, and the date of completion. This certificate serves as provenance documentation and is transferable with the sculpture.
